restoration frame soft top

My old soft top was horrible to erect. Since I was planning to get a new
cover anyway I decided to restore the frame so that it would close and open
more easily. I eventually succeeded in doing that (it closes perfect on the
front and back ends) but now one of the bows, the one that should be just
above the rear window remains too much in vertical position with the frame
in erected position. I can solve this problem by drilling new holes and thus
relocate this bow but I first want to know if there is any other solution or
what I did wrong (it may already have been wrong with the old hood but I
can't recall that anymore). Is there anybody out there recognizing this
problem? Please mail me.
