Decrease current?

Dan,

        If you increase the voltage by doubling it, you've doubled the 
current.

E=IR  R=E/I

R=6/whatever = 12/ 2x whatever.

Unless you can decrease the resistance of the wire ;)

  To just change voltage won't affect the wiring any. In fact if you
increase the voltage you decrease the amperage. Theoretically, you could
decrease the size of the wire, but; I wouldn't.
