[bmw] FYI- 533i PERFORMANCE CHIPS
To those of you that might be interested in a chip for a 533i, I have some
good information.
As a relative newbie I have had difficulty finding info about chips for the
261 200 008 Motronic ECU.
Basically without rattling on I have found an adapter board that is used to
put a 24 pin chip in this ECU. It requires some guts and some pretty precise
electronic skills including soldering. (Info at eom)
Since I got this far I now needed a 24 pin chip.
There are a few available but not much data about their performance.
I attended 5er-Fest this summer and heard all the guys talking about Mark
Dyslva of Enhanced Automotive Technology (E.A.T.Chips). www.dsylva-tech.ca/
Most of the group thought Mark's chip were the best. Unfortunately Mark does
NOT make a chip for the 533i.
I have contacted Mark and asked if he would make chips for the 533 and he
agreed to let me see what kind of market there might be. We need at least 10
commitments to have him make the chips. Also about 8 weeks or more lead time.
Approx. cost less than $200.
The adapter board above is a Porsche 944 product. They have the same problem
with their 84 era Motronics.

Look for adapter board with no chip. Look in the EPROM Adapter in the red
section. Then go to order section to see the adapter boards.
The one with no EPROM is what you want. $65.00
Of course you will have to be able to install this adapter board to use the
E.A.T. chip.
Please let me know of your interest ideas or suggestions.
