Fellow Staggers:
Thanks for the feedback on the radio question. I will install the my
historically correct, if not technologically challenged BL logo AM/FM
Pushbutton radio int the dash opening, and then opt for something a little
snazzier, possibly using the parcel tray for an install.
Jim: I too am in need of measurements for the BL vortex badges, I have put
this off for too long, and am curious to see what the listers have to say.
You refer to your car as "mustard" is this color code (if my memory serves
me) 71 , "Saffron"? . My 71 4spd is saffron on black. Painted in 93-94,
garaged since. Should have a scannable pic in the near future.
Finally a sad note. We bought our Stag in 1982 from close family friends.
Their son had driven the car while in college and needed a more practical
car......His mother, Doris, confided in my mother that we should not buy the
car (I was 15 at the time and drooling at the prospect of having the Stag in
my garage) as they had mechanical problems with it........in the last couple
of years Doris was tickled when she learned that I was putting the car back
to its original color, etc. and confided that she always loved the car and
never wanted to get rid of it.....She died on Sunday, and her funeral and
memorial service were very difficult for me. Mom and Dad are on a rail tour
in Canada, and I represented our family. Doris' son Skip and I talked a lot
about his former Stag, and it really helped ease the pain for us both. We
laughed about how his mom tried to keep us from buying the car under the
pretense that it might pollute the friendship, while deep down we both
agreed that she wanted to keep it....Skip's son's ( who is 11) eyes lit up
when I told him I would give him a ride in the car.
