center console

I'm having difficulty in removing the center console.  The ROM says to
prise out the console front panel.  How can I do this without breaking
it?  It doesn't seem to budge.  
If and when I do manage to remove the console, in-addition to fixing the
vacuum to the heater, I'd like to install a radio that has a standard
DIN aperture.  Is there an adapter available for the Stag?
