RE: Adding Overdrive to a 4 speed manual
Hi Mike,
Thanks for that information. I already have an original manual o/d ,
but I can get hold of a couple of j types (from saloons) for under 100
pounds each. I was thinking of keeping one as a spare and holding on to
the other one just in case I meet a stag owner with a 4 speed manual. (I
am *not* in it for the money)
It seems a shame to see these o/d boxes go to the wreckers.
Both come with gearboxes , so I can take the mainshaft out for use in
the stag gearbox.
Will I need to make any mods to the saloon mainshaft or will it "just
slide in" ??

Can you define "early example" a 1973 or later saloon gearbox with a j
type would be generally ok?
