Thanks for that. I have not measured the mph but I am sure that the speedo
reads high. ie that although it registers 70mph the car is actually doing
less.

One thing I have noticed is that at 70mph indicated the rpm are 3000 exactly
in overdrive top.  Does this help the diagnosis anyone.
