I would never ever use red hermetite on anything that I would
conceivably want to dismantle in the future - it's intended to be
"permanent". As it never seems to keep the oil in either (and it makes
your engine look as though there's an axe murderer trapped inside) I
wouldn't use it full stop. Hylomar is much better but you need a really
thin even coating which is difficult as it tends to go sticky fairly
quickly. Romour has it that it was used by Rolls Royce and they don't
usually leak. Mind you their machining and materials may have been a
shade better than Triumph's......
