Re: Trans Trouble?

At a recent NATO press briefing, Al Evitts <[email protected]> was heard
threatening Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic...

Walt,

This sounds like a classic case of a mis-adjusted throttle kickdown linkage.
Try making the kickdown linkage shorter... that is, screw the turnbuckle at
the carb inward a little bit at a time and test it. The transmission will
shift too soon if it "thinks" the throttle is open farther that it really it.
It senses the position of the throttle by the kickdown lever. If the kickdown
lever is adjusted too long, the transmission will be tricked into thinking the
throttle is open much wider than it really is. Go a little at a time though.
The kickdown adjustment is very sensitive and if you make it too short, you'll
wind up with lazy shifts and no downshifting when you nail the throttle.

Take care,

John L.
