My WM behaves exactly the same way, but I guess to a lesser extent. It's
never needed more than the mildest jiggling to either start OR physically
engage park. Maybe once out of 5 times for actually getting the tranny
locked, one out of 15 times to get it to start.
My wife almost ran herself over once when she didn't make sure it was in
park- it didn't start rolling immediately.
Still that's not enough to overcome my normal procrastination. But if it
got to Mike's level of annoyance I'd probably fix it.
BTW, if it was the neutral start switch, tho, I'd p'bly override it instead
of replacing it. You can usually count on 2 fingers the number of people
who are likely to (or want to!) drive your IH, and they're usually not dumb
enough to start the vehicle in drive. So why put another old switch in
there which could fail again?
