Umm... not quite.
Does your '66 800 have a V8 (or did it) or is it a factory 4cyl?
The Scout II 196 is a direct replacement for a V8, NOT a 152 or another
196. The 4cyl 80/800s used a slanted motor. Yes, motor mounts are
different.. but so is the intake manifold which has an angle to it to
keep the carb flat.
I don't know what else to look for.
My '77 Scout II had a 304 in it from the factory.. a 196 was dropped in
when the 304 was robbed.. I then pulled the 196 back out (and it's now
sitting on a pallet by the side of the garage) and put a different 304
in it.
I actually liked that 196 when my Scout was still stock.. 33s and "only"
4.09s, and it wasn't nearly as much fun any more..
