I've experienced the same or similar problem with my '65 Scout 80 three speed.
As far as I know, all the parts (clutch disc, Pressure plate and release
bearing are identical replacements for what was there already. However, upon
reassembly, I had no clutch. The disc is always engaged even when the pedal is
fully depressed. I have a hydraulic clutch but the problem sounds the same as
yours. Namely, the clutch fork is not pressing the clutch fingers far enough
to disengage the clutch.
I have tried the following:
1. extending the length of the clutch slave cylinder rod that connects to the
clutch fork.
2. adjusting the position of the clutch fingers on the pressure plate so they
are closer
to the release bearing.
3. rebuilding and rebleeding the clutch master and slave cylinders.
So far, nothing as helped. This can't be that hard to do. Like I said, I
replaced all parts with the same replacement part and didn't monkey with the
position of the clutch pedal or slave cylinder or any linkages. Must be
something simple that I'm overlooking.
Let me know if you have a breakthrough.
