Scouts in literature

Those of you who read Stephen King might note that he seems to be a Scout
fan. In at least two of his stories he mentions Scouts: in "The Stand" he
mentions a Scout owned by a character called Tony Leominster early in the
story. Later, a character named Judge Farris drives a Scout (and is
mentioned in a radio transmission by the bad guys as driving an
International-Harvester). In his short-story "The Mist", he also mentions a
Scout, but somehow it got skewed and ended up with four doors! A custom
model, perhaps...?
