On mine I made a gasket with gasket material, then used Hi-temp red silicone
gasket maker. I figured at how hot it gets right there, I would use a high
temp. So far, it's been a 1 1/2 years since I have done this. No leaks.

For Thermostats I always use Ultra Blue silicon. Works great. Never
leaks.
