Axle fiasco

A few weeks back I decided to tackle those rear axle bearings.

Everything went pretty well except we didn't have access to a press. We
spent about 3 hours driving and calling around to try and find one but we
couldn't. So, I let my buddy talk me into letting him cut the bearings off
with a torch. 

I know, I know. No lecture necessary. 

So, anyway one bearing came off good but on the other side he nicked the
axle a little with the torch. I have been driving with it that way and no
problems but I'm wondering if I may run into fatigue problems. I figure the
ultimate strength has definately been reduced.

Any suggestions/comments?

Ironically, I later put one of the seals on backwards, which we noticed
*after* we put the new bearing on so we ended up fabbing a press anyway to
avoid cutting off the good bearing. :(
