administrivia: apparent spam?

a quick question: has any reader of this list received an email from
racing dynamics that they considered to be more-or-less spammish in
nature? (that is, not a customer, no prior contact with them of any sort
beyond looking at ads in the roundel).

i got an email from a former member who has apparently just been spammed by
them, apparently due to scraping an email address from a 1996 posting in
the archives.

note: i'm not calling them spammers right now. i would, however, like to
figure out one way or another if they might have erred on the overly
agressive side in using, um, "direct email marketing".
