<E39> Putting Car on Jacks?

A friend of mine and I just picked up a 2003 540i 6-speed in
Spartanburg.  The car is great and now we want to do some
work like change brake pads and clutch delay valve.  The
problem.....Is there any other place to jack the car besides
the jacking pads?  Or can the car be supported anywhere
else?  I can get access to a lift, but we want to work in
the garage.  Never had this problem before.
