I ran into the same problem last weekend doing the fronts for the first time
on my 83 528e.  Mine are 7mm.
This required an extra trip to the hardware store for a 3/8 drive 7mm hex,
30min and $5.00 later I was in business.  I thought I had collected most of
the simple tools I would ever need!  I'm not quite sure why the other metric
Allen sets I have didn't have a 7 but oh well.
