E36 rear sub frame failure

I currently own a 94 325is with 114k on the clock, though I have had no
problems with the rear sub frame failure, I have heard of the various
problems that some have had with the e36.  I am looking to sell this car and
move up to a M3.  I would like to stay with a 98-99 M3 2 door, my question
is what year did BMW acknowledge this problem by strengthening the effected
area?
