Hello All
I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that assisted me in
solving the shift linkage problem on my 1972 2002. I especially want to
thank the lister...(sorry lost your email) who sent the diagram of the
linkage. It turned out to be the key to resolving my problem.
Ten years ago when i purchased the 2002...i had a mechanic repair the
shifter because it was so loose. His solution was to put a used shift linkage
in that was tighter than mine. What he didn't do was re-install the "sleeve"
that fits over the steel pin that joins the linkage to the transmission. I
guess over the years the pin eased its way out. Once i put a pin in....and
of course....slide the sleeve back over it...all was well. It was just that
easy.....but so difficult to do because of a lack of space.
Again....thanks to all. My baby can shift now !!!
