Re: b_c_g: 750iL thrust bushings

I have the same problem on my 86 635. I seem to remember someone on
the digest that supplied those bushings at a nice savings. Anyone
     recall who, or where? Thanks,

Group,

I just had the thrust bushings replaced on my 86 635CSi (78,000 miles) with
those from a 750iL. The dreaded shimmy at 45 to 50 mph is gone. The mechanic
that did the work charged $90. for the parts, $25 to machine them to fit, and
$90. to install them for a total of $205. The bad news is 6 months ago brand
new thrust arms and stock bushings had been put in the car before I bought it.
What a waste of money that was. I will try to return them to BMW of Peabody as
obviously this is a well known problem and BMW should not even be stocking
these anymore. If anyone has that shimmy while in this speed range of 45-50
(with their foot off the brakes), they should get the repair done.
