Rotary Versa Lift

Rotary Lifts, of Madison Indiana (www.rotary-lift.com), has come out this
year with a new portable mid-rise lift in their Versa Lift series. This
lift requires at least 9' ceiling height to be used to its maximum
potential (47" lift height) and you still need to be careful if the hood is
open.

The advantage of this type of lift over other mid-rise designs is (1) its
portable...even at 650 lbs and 9' of length (2) it does not need to be
anchored to the ground...no need to drill holes in your concrete floor (3)
it runs on 110v...earlier models were 220v...versions using shop air are
also available (4) it uses readily available and inexpensive ATF as a
hydraulic fluid...no $50.00/gallon synthetics needed (5) there is a
hydraulic quick disconnect between the portable pump unit and the lift
itself...no need to get the wrenches out when you move it (6) it won't wear
a groove in your concrete floor like competitor's scissors style lifts, eg,
Snap-on's EELR Series lifts and (7) installation is very easy...takes about
20-30 minutes with simple hand tools and (8) its relatively
inexpensive...Rotary just went through a restructuring eliminating a layer
of management and the cost savings have been passed onto their products.

The lift has several mechanical safety stops so the load is not on the
hydraulics...this is pretty much standard fare for all ALI approved lifts.
There are also adapter plates with rubber pads to prevent damage to the
underside of the vehicles...make sure you get the correct height pad so the
lift framework does not hit the underside of the car on the way up. The
downside to these types of lifts are (1) they're not the greatest for
drivetrain or exhaust work because of the framework being in the way and
(2) with most BMW's and lowered cars, you'll need a pair of plywood pads to
drive onto when positioning the car over the lift...the framework may hit
the underside of your car without this pad although I have no clearance
problems with my Porsche. These plywood pads can be painted or laminated
to improve their appearance.
Contact me directly if you have any questions or check out Rotary's web
page. Lifts, even the in-ground electric and twin post varieties (Rotary's
9000 lb unit is now competitive with Challenger and other mfg), can be drop
shipped anywhere in the country. SD
