As for the seats, it's really a preference issue. Seats from Momo, Corbeau,
Sparco, Kirkey, etc. would all be fine. Best thing to do would be stop by
a race shop and try on the seats. Some will fit better than others. Also,
do you want to run an aluminum seat or Kevlar/fiberglass seat? I run a
Kevlar seat from Corbeau which fits me very well and only weighs 10lbs.
A friend of mine, Mike Wendell, runs an aluminum seat and likes that very
much. His seat weighs about the same as mine. Your budget will also be a
consideration.
As for racing, have you purchased the GCR and ITCS yet from the SCCA? I ask
because if you plan to race your 86 325, I'm pretty sure you won't find a place
for it in SCCA. ITS has to be an 87-91 325i/is or 91 318is and ITB is a 318i
or 2002. There are other BMWs in IT, but the ones I've mentioned are the classes
with E30's. A 325 would be the 'e' motor anyway. You're going to need an 'i'
motor to even be competitive. I would know all the rules for SCCA/BMW Club
Racing before I did one more thing to my car.
Good luck with your racing.
