Age discrimination NOT, stop whining

To all the "victims" and whiners about age discrimination.

Look at insurance tables for male, under age 25 drivers. The dealers are well
aware of them, maybe some of the younger whiners out there oughta get a clue.
A dealership isn't discriminating, they're hedging their bets.

At a dealership salesman usually take turns with "ops". Slang for
opportunities. They are reluctant to waste one of these on a potential time
waster. Also, they know that their judgment will be questioned when the car
comes back with a bent wheel, regardless of the age of the prospective
customer.

As a salesperson you literally are placing your life in the hands of someone
driving a new car. Nearly always the car being taken on a test drive is faster
and more powerful than the prospect's current ride. Faced with an eager young
driver who has never driven such a car before, you expect them to be
enthusiastic? A driver whose sum total of driving experience might be 30,000
miles?

Most young drivers average a ticket every year or so. Not a generalization, a
fact. that is part of the reason for higher insurance premiums. The dealer
knows these things you know.

A customer must have the ability to consummate the sale. That is, be of legal
age and have the funds or credit available to buy the car. Guess what? Again,
the tables are not on your side.

The enthusiasm younger "prospects" have needs to be tempered by a good dose of
reality. Start off by asking the price, payments and insurance questions, not
what the baby will do.

When you go into a store to buy cigarettes you have to have a photo ID if you
are under 27. In the package store if you are under 30 (in this neighborhood).
That's age discrimination too. It's the law. Get used to it.

Stop the damned whining, the noise is deafening. Pay your dues. Sure you've
turned 21 and can buy a six pack, buying a car requires more than an ID. Life
is unfair. You are guaranteed the pursuit of happiness, not happiness itself.
Stop the whining.
