<E28> Erratic Idle

Hello all,

I have an '84 528e with 5 speed.  The car idles perfect (750 RPM) with the air
conditioner OFF.

However, once I turn the A/C ON, it imeediately starts to idle at 1100 RPM,
and constantly surges to 1500 RPM.

25,000 miles ago I replaced the Idle Control Valve.  The Idle Control Module,
however, is still the original, as is the Motronic computer.  

Any ideas what's wrong with the idling?  Any advice would be appreciated...
