Borla Exhaust - Loss of Power?

I have a friend who recently had a Borla exhaust put on his '98 M3. The
sound is
incredible! I'm tempted to order one to complete my TMS Euro Intake and JC
chip
modifications on my '95 M3.

However, I've heard that the Borla (or any other free-flow exhaust for that
matter) actually will REDUCE my torque and horsepower instead of increase it
(loss of back pressure?). Should I assume that BMW has tweaked the stock
exhaust
to work perfectly with my '95 M3 or would a Borla exhaust be the way to go.
I'd
almost consider getting it for the sound and weight reduction alone, but if it
decreases my dyno'd power ratings I'd have to pass. Any help, suggestions or
hard factual data would be greatly appreciated.
