The formula HP=T*RPM/5252 is well-known. An engineer
friend of mine
once explained the derivation of the 5252 number, but it
was truly
complex and I've forgotten it (I was in over my head,
anyway). But, the
formula holds true; the equality of HP and T at 5252 is
obvious....
Awhile back somebody had posted a URL that explained the whole deal.
And it's in tearms that somebody as clueless as me can understand. Here
it is if you're interested. http://www.vettenet.org/torquehp.html
