Re: [bmw] oil change

The dealer where my son bought his car REFUSED to change the oil until the

any advantage to this. If not the miles, what about 18 months or blowby ,
acid, and other junk that builds up in the oil.

And remember, new BMWs come with all service included but they will not give
you an extra inch.
I have never heard of a dealer denying an oil change at any other time except when the SI indicated unless you wanted it for free. Some dealers will give you some leeway. I believe MINI will give you +/- 100 miles. Judging from the experience when I bought my 98 ti the dealer took care of oil changes and Inspections even if I was early when I explained to the service advisor that I would be out of town when the car was due for service.

Bottom line, if you want an oil change before the scheduled interval, you need to pay for it yourself. I am *ass*uming this was the case.

Just changed the oil in my MINI at 5K because I did not want to wait until the 10K interval. I also change the oil in my 328ti every 4500 miles which is about 1/2 the oil change interval. Both is probably overkill since I use synthetic, but it makes me feel better.
