Peter,

Believe it or not, I paid $450 CDN for the cat-back muffler - guaranteed for
life. Only the muffler of course, but on the e28 its all one piece.

Subject: Fixed! 85/535i - Intermittent Starting problems.

Hi All!
Thank you to everyone who replied to me.  Your input has been very helpful.
With your tips I got my main problems resolved quickly and easily. As many
of you predicted, it turned out to be that failing fuel pressure regulator
and bad spark plugs.  I replaced those and the car has, so far, been
starting up with out a problem.  I also ended up replacing the fan clutch
after I noticed that it was spinning freely on a hot day.

Things left to do:
- - muffler needs replacement - does anyone know of a good OEM or sports
muffler?  I'd like to not pay the $400 or so to get the factory muffler. :)
- - the defroster fan does not work.  Or rather it does for about 5 minutes
after I replace the fuse.  It will work only on III and with the A/C on.
Has anyone encountered this type of problem before?
